My boss made a racist comment about me at work.

My manager referred to me using a racial slur in front of colleagues. HR said they'll look into it but it's been 3 weeks and nothing has happened.

This constitutes racial harassment and unfair discrimination under the Employment Equity Act. File a formal grievance in writing with HR immediately. If HR fails to act, refer a discrimination dispute to the CCMA under section 10 of the EEA within 6 months. You can also file with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC). Document everything: dates, witnesses, the exact words used.
