For everyone
- Be respectful. Disagreement is welcome. Insults, threats, harassment, bigotry and doxxing are not. Posts that cross these lines are removed without warning.
- Stay on topic. Justibly is for South African legal questions and attorney feedback. Off-topic posts, sales pitches and spam will be taken down.
- Protect your privacy.Don't post identity numbers, bank details, case numbers, medical records or anything else you'd rather not have public. Remember: questions and answers are indexed by Google.
- No AI-generated content. Questions, answers and reviews must be written by a real human. Automated or AI-generated submissions will be removed and may result in a ban.
Asking a legal question
- Describe your situation briefly and honestly.
- Include the province you're in - law varies across South Africa (labour, customary marriage, municipal bylaws).
- Don't ask attorneys to represent you in the thread; use the attorney's profile to send an enquiry.
- Answers on Justibly are general guidance, not legal advice. If your matter has a deadline or significant financial exposure, speak to an attorney directly.
Answering as an attorney
Attorney answers appear with an “Attorney Answer” badge. Your LPC registration is verified on claim. We hold attorney answers to a higher standard because users rely on them.
- Give substance.“Contact a lawyer” is not an answer. Explain the principle that applies, cite the relevant Act if useful, and flag what makes the situation complex.
- No soliciting in answers.Don't include “call me”, phone numbers or website URLs in the body of an answer. Your profile is automatically linked below the post - users who want to hire you can click through.
- Respect professional conduct rules. The LPC Code of Conduct applies to everything you post. Confidentiality breaches, fee-sharing pitches and undignified conduct will be reported to the Legal Practice Council.
- No copy-paste answers. We detect duplicated answers posted across unrelated questions and remove them.
Writing a review
- Review only attorneys you've actually engaged. Reviews from hearsay, opposing-side experience or family disputes will be removed.
- Be specific.“Amazing attorney” helps no one. “Handled our customary marriage registration over four weeks, clear on fees, answered after hours” does.
- Stick to facts you can stand behind. If an attorney disputes a review, we may contact you for context. Accusations of criminal conduct will not be posted - report them to the LPC or SAPS.
- One review per engagement.Don't post multiple reviews for the same matter or enlist friends to pile on.
Reporting content
Use the “Report” link on any post, or email [email protected] with the URL and a short reason. We review reports within two business days.
Consequences
Minor violations get a warning. Repeated or serious violations - harassment, doxxing, fake reviews, solicitation - result in removal of the content and suspension or permanent closure of the account. We reserve the right to remove anything we decide is harmful to the community without prior notice.
