Gerda matriculated in 1991 at Voorterekker Höerskool in Boksburg, Gauteng. At school she enjoyed netball & played defender for the first team. She also participated in athletics & was a member of the debate team. She was nominated as a prefect during her matric year. She then sudied a B Proc degree at RAU, Johannesburg (now the Johannesburg University). Thereafter she did her articles at Anton Myburg Attorneys, Johannesburg, which was ceded to Kassel, Sklaar, Cohen Inc in Rosebank, Johannesburg. She was admitted as an attorney in 1997. From 1997 until 1998 Gerda was a claims handler at the Road Accident Fund in Cape Town. She joined A Batchelor & Associates as a Professional Assistant during November 1998 and became a partner on 1 May 2003. Gerda has been a member of the American Association of Justice since 2013. She specialises in medical negligence and motor vehicle accident claims.
