About Dimitra

Dimitra Kouvelakis has been practising in the dispute resolution arena for 20 years. She focuses on general commercial litigation matters, specialising in shareholder disputes, and franchising and aviation disputes. Her vast experience in arbitrations, High Court trials and applications, ranges from interdicts, to contractual, lease and property disputes. Dimitra also heads the collections team. In her role as General Counsel, Dimitra manages the firm’s compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements. She is the Head of Risk and Quality Control, FICA/AML compliance, which includes Legal Practice Council and POPIA compliance. Dimitra assists with trust account audits and internal audits, attends to professional indemnity insurance issues, and oversees the annual renewal of the firm’s professional indemnity policies. She manages third party service providers to the firm and monitors and implements corporate governance and firm policies. As the Company Secretary, Dimitra ensures all director resignations and appointments are recorded at CIPC and all company information is up to date. She also keeps records of company documents, such as share certificates, resolutions, and minutes of board and shareholder meetings.
